2018 Subaru Outback Updates & Drivetrain

After the debut of the Legacy sedan at the last Chicago Auto Show, their more ready high-ride edition, the Outback, can come current for the upcoming New York Auto Show. Subaru’s most popular wagon-like vehicle has a great skill for the off-road and all-weather drive but it is also very realistic and comfortable. However, in order to hold their recognition, Subaru invested in more luxe interior, upgraded infotainment and protection features. Different styling changes will be seen on its rear side with more rugged design approach and new wheel design will be accessible in the Limited trim.


For the interior, Subaru offers new advanced resources and improved center cluster. The steering wheel is also new and cuts except the base will have sewing on the dash. Top cuts will add sewing on the door systems and seats. As well as that Titanium Gray will be a new interior color option. The model will even have greater noise insulation.


On the technology top, the new Outback comes by having an improved Starlink infotainment system. The base 6.2-inch monitor gets a 6.5-inch replacement. A larger 8-inch unit will soon be available in the higher-spec designs for the first time on this model. The system will help Apple car Play and Android Auto. USB and Wireless inputs along with with Wi-Fi hotspot and TomTom navigation may also be available.

The safety of passengers has been revised. The rearview camera is now the standard feature. The model also benefits from the available versatile headlights, individual tire force tracking process, opposite braking process, and automated sealing doors. One more upgrade is on the lane maintaining aid which today has activation at around 37 mph.

Subaru has made some changes on model’s frame and suspension which will give greater operating refinement. Engineers have tuned the electric energy steering process for more linear response. The CVT should also provide smoother performance and greater accuracy thanks to some improvements.

On the other give, the 2018 Subaru Outback will keep on with the same engine options. A 2.5-liter flat-four engine will produce 175 hp and torque of 174 lb-ft. A more efficient 3.6-liter flat-six will provide 256 horsepower and torque of 247 lb-ft.

Both engine options can come with the continuously variable transmission. Subaru’s all-wheel drive process with active torque vectoring will also be accessible by default.

Subaru hasn’t commented on model’s fuel economy but assume related EPA numbers as on the current version.


The 2018 Subaru Outback will debut at the next New York Show. It will go on sale that summer. We do not assume big changes in the price range but Subaru will give the final word.
