After the arrival of the redesigned XT5 and changed labeling nomenclature, Cadillac is working to increase its crossover SUV lineup. Despite it was already late to the party it’s better late than never and GM’s luxurious brand is already testing its all-new compact crossover model that will be the rival to models like the Audi Q3, Lexus NX, Mercedes GLA and BMW X1. Its debut is expected in the first half of the next year, so we wanting it as the 2019 Cadillac XT3. The new luxury crossover will follow brand’s modern design language with several characteristics with the larger XT5 and some details from Cadillac’s Escalade. We assume it with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine riding possibly on GM’s D2XX platform.
2019 CADILLAC XT3: DESIGN
Cadillac wrapped the prototype of then new 2019 Cadillac XT3 in the thick camo in order to hide as much as possible. Despite the camo hides every little thing on the test car at a closer examination we can get the clue about model’s design. Unsurprisingly, Cadillac’s new compact crossover will be similarly styled as the greater XT5 but with some details borrowed from the Escalade. Sharp angles are the part of Cadillac’s modern design philosophy and XT3 will combine that with other familiar details from brand’s vehicles.
The signature pentagonal grille with the honeycomb mesh will be flanked by headlights with the LED operating lights. The profile of the model will be virtually identical to the larger XT5 while the rear will have the taillights which increase to the D pillar.
On the other hand, the XT3 seems to be somewhat larger than their rivals. The body of the new crossover should be placed on the D2XX platform which underpins the Equinox and GMC Terrain.
We do not have the pictures of model’s cabin but we assume it to generally share really similar design approach as the greater XT5. The model will come with brand’s newest CUE infotainment system and protection features. It will offer the room for 5 passengers and possibly better legroom and cargo room than most of the rivals.
2019 CADILLAC XT3: POWERTRAIN
Considering that 2019 Cadillac XT3 will probably use the D2XX platform, it will provide both front- and all-wheel travel options. The model will even have a fully independent rear underpinning.
Under the hood, the XT3 will probably have the version of GM’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. All chances are that Caddy will couple this engine with the new nine-speed automatic transmission. The power could possibly be around 250 hp with the torque about 260 pound-feet.
The new compact 2019 Cadillac XT3 must hit the market in mid-2018. The first estimation of the price anticipates the base version available from minimal $30, 000.
